Prysmian acquires Scottish cable‑jointer training centre, boosting UK workforce

Prysmian Group has purchased a high‑voltage cable‑jointer training facility in North Ayrshire, Scotland. The acquisition brings more than 20 apprentice jointers and the centre’s training staff into Prysmian’s operations, expanding its workforce for underground and subsea transmission projects.

The academy will become part of Prysmian’s UK training and installation network, supporting specialist cable‑jointing skills needed for installation, inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) of high‑voltage power‑grid assets across the United Kingdom and Europe. Executives said the move strengthens Prysmian’s commitment to Britain and enhances the availability of skilled personnel essential for the energy‑transition infrastructure.

The purchase adds to Prysmian’s existing UK footprint, which includes manufacturing and service sites in Bishopstoke, Wrexham, Aberdare and a marine base at the Port of Middlesbrough.
