PSA Airlines flight emergency results in injuries and evacuation

A PSA Airlines flight, a subsidiary of American Airlines, experienced a mid-air emergency on a route from St. Louis, Missouri, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Approximately 15 minutes after takeoff, the Bombardier CRJ900 encountered smoke and a strong burning odor in the cabin, followed by a loss of cabin pressure that deployed oxygen masks.

Passengers reported hearing loud bangs and experiencing a sudden loss of altitude. The crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet and returned to St. Louis for an emergency landing. During the subsequent evacuation, some passengers jumped from the aircraft wing to escape.

The incident resulted in one passenger being seriously injured and two crew members sustaining minor injuries.
