PSC aims to block far-right influence in Catalan local elections

Political tensions are rising in Catalonia as the Socialists' Party of Catalonia (PSC) prepares for upcoming municipal elections. Ferran Pedret, the PSC parliamentary leader, stated that the party will do everything in its power to prevent far-right groups, specifically VOX and Aliança Catalana, from leading or influencing local governments.

In a separate critique, VOX deputy Manuel Acosta denounced the regional administration for allocating over 285 million euros toward reinforcing the use of the Catalan language. Acosta argued that these funds could instead be used to address educational shortages, claiming the budget could finance the hiring of approximately 6,688 secondary school teachers to improve student-teacher ratios.
