Federal District elections: PSD endorses Celina Leão after Arruda disqualification

The political landscape in the Federal District is shifting following the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) decision to bar former governor José Roberto Arruda (PSD) from running for office. Arruda was ruled ineligible until 2030 due to administrative misconduct convictions linked to Operation Caixa de Pandora.

In response to Arruda's disqualification, the PSD regional executive announced its support for incumbent Governor Celina Leão (PP) for reelection. While the party officially endorses Leão, leadership stated that candidates and Arruda himself remain free to support other candidates. Arruda has rejected this alliance, criticizing the current administration as the worst in Brasília's history.

Recent polling data shows varying leads. A Quaest poll indicates Celina Leão leading the first round with 39% of the vote, followed by Leandro Grass (PT) at 23%. Another Real Time Big Data poll places Leão higher at 47%.

In the Senate race, Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) leads the polling with approximately 26-27% of the intended votes. The competition for the second Senate seat remains highly contested, with Leila do Vôlei (PDT), Bia Kicis (PL), and Erika Kokay (PT) in a technical tie. Additionally, F1 champion Nelson Piquet has joined the fray by donating R$ 100,000 to Sebastião Coelho's (Novo) Senate campaign.
