PSDB candidates in São Paulo report campaign funding shortages

Candidates from the PSDB party in São Paulo are expressing significant dissatisfaction regarding a shortage of campaign funds. Internal communications reveal frustration among candidates for deputy positions, with some describing the lack of resources as a “joke” and noting that the party lacks the funds even to distribute campaign materials.

Paulo Serra, the state president of the PSDB and a candidate for federal deputy, confirmed the financial difficulties. He stated that the São Paulo branch has received approximately R$ 6 million, which is roughly 60% of the expected amount. Serra attributed the shortfall to an old labor lawsuit that blocked about R$ 3 million of the party's funds. Although Supreme Court Minister Dias Toffoli recently released the funds, they have not yet been made available to the party.

Currently, the party is providing approximately R$ 5,000 to candidates without existing mandates, but nearly half of the slate has yet to receive any resources. Serra is reportedly negotiating with the national directory to secure additional funding.
