pSemi introduces integrated 2.4 GHz RF modules for IoT

pSemi, a Murata company, has launched two integrated 2.4 GHz silicon-on-insulator (SOI) front-end modules (FEMs), the PE566212 and PE566213. These modules are designed to enhance wireless connectivity for IoT applications, including smart home devices, wearables, wireless audio, and sensing systems.

By integrating a power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, and RF switch into a compact 1.8 x 1.8 x 0.63 mm LGA package, the modules aim to reduce design complexity and component count. Utilizing UltraCMOS+ SOI technology, they serve as a silicon-based alternative to traditional GaAs and SiGe front ends. The modules can provide five to ten times the wireless range of a standalone system-on-chip (SoC).

The PE566212 supports Bluetooth Basic Data Rate (BDR) and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), offering up to +20 dBm transmit output power. The PE566213 includes additional support for Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate (EDR). Both modules feature a receive noise figure of 1.8 dB at 13 dB gain.
