PSG faces internal tension over Dro Fernandez
Paris Saint-Germain is experiencing internal friction regarding the treatment of midfielder Dro Fernandez. Reports from L’Equipe indicate that some young players and academy staff at the club feel the 18-year-old is receiving preferential treatment despite not yet establishing himself as a consistent performer.
Fernandez, who joined from Barcelona’s academy for eight million euros last winter, has played 20 matches but has struggled to make a lasting impact. Critics within the club point to his physical fragility and lack of efficiency in front of goal as areas for improvement. Some academy players, including Senny Mayulu and Quentin Ndjantou, reportedly feel they have been leapfrogged by the newcomer, leading to concerns that his agent may hold undue influence.
While PSG management maintains a patient stance, viewing Fernandez as being in a developmental phase, the situation has caused unease within the club’s training center. Meanwhile, the team faces squad depth challenges following a muscle injury to Nuno Mendes during a recent match against Strasbourg.
