PSG match moved to Rennes due to unsafe pitch conditions
The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) has announced that the upcoming match between Paris Saint-Germain and Stade Rennais will be moved to Roazhon Park. This decision follows an inspection of the pitch at Parc des Princes, which determined that the playing surface was in a condition that could not ensure player safety.
The degradation of the Parc des Princes pitch follows a summer of extreme heat. In contrast, the nearby Jean-Bouin stadium, used by Paris FC, has maintained a healthy pitch despite the same weather conditions. This success is attributed to the AquaFlow technology developed by Natural Grass, a sub-irrigation system that delivers water directly to the roots and stores it beneath the surface.
This innovative irrigation method reportedly reduces water consumption by 50% to 100% and helps prevent surface moisture that can lead to fungal growth. While PSG was unable to secure an alternative venue, Stade Rennais has agreed to host the match on Sunday, August 23, at 20:45.
