PSG proposes amendments to Serbian election laws

The parliamentary group Movement of Free Citizens (PSG) – Sandžak Democratic Action Party (SDA) – Party for Democratic Action (PDD) has submitted proposals to the Serbian National Assembly to amend the Law on the Election of National Deputies and the Law on Local Elections.

The proposed amendments aim to introduce mechanisms to prevent electoral abuses and ensure real control over the voting process. Key measures include the introduction of electronic control for identity cards or passports at polling stations to immediately verify voter registration and prevent multiple voting.

To combat controlled voting, the group proposes that election boards have the authority to invalidate ballots for individuals caught photographing their completed votes. Additionally, they suggest limiting off-site voting by requiring that one person can only report one voter for voting outside the polling station, accompanied by written authorization.

Other proposals include the immediate scanning or photographing of polling station minutes for public display and granting all electoral lists the right to inspect all election materials, including the possibility of a recount. The group also emphasized the importance of amendments regarding the protection of women's representation in the Assembly and local parliaments.
