Semen Padang FC dismisses coach Nil Maizar after loss

Semen Padang FC has officially terminated its partnership with head coach Nil Maizar following a 0-1 home defeat against PSPS Pekanbaru at Stadion Patriot Candrabhaga. The loss, secured by a 72nd-minute goal from Dimas Wicaksono, prompted management to conduct an evaluation of the team's performance in the 2026/2027 Pegadaian Championship.

Following the dismissal, Semen Padang FC management is reportedly negotiating with experienced Brazilian coach Stefano Cugurra, commonly known as Teco, to take over the position. Teco, who holds Indonesian citizenship and has a significant history coaching in Liga 1 with clubs like Persija Jakarta and Bali United, is being considered to help the club meet its target of returning to Liga 1.

PSPS Pekanbaru's victory marks their third consecutive win in the competition, moving them to 9 points in Group A.
