PSOE demands resignations in Benalmádena following councillor insults

The PSOE in Benalmádena has called for the resignation of Housing Councillor José Luis Bergillos and Mayor Juan Antonio Lara. The demand follows social media posts by Bergillos containing insults directed at the socialist municipal group.

This incident follows a previous controversy where Bergillos used similar derogatory language toward an 87-year-old woman in Madrid. While the councillor previously issued apologies for that error, the PSOE claims he has failed to show genuine regret and continues to target the opposition online.

In addition to the insults, socialist spokesperson Víctor Navas criticized the local government's stability, linking the political crisis to the High Court of Justice of Andalusia's annulment of the 2024 municipal budget due to legal non-compliance.
