PSOE reports 251 attacks on party headquarters in three years
The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has reported a sharp rise in political violence, documenting at least 251 attacks on its headquarters and those of the Partit dels Socialistes de Catalunya (PSC) over the past three years. These incidents, spanning 46 provinces, include vandalism and physical aggression.
According to the party, 177 local offices have been targeted, with some locations such as León, Badajoz, and El Ejido experiencing repeated attacks. Beyond property damage, there have been 12 recorded physical assaults against local, regional, or national political leaders during this period.
A recent incident involved the mayor of Vilagarcía de Arousa, Alberto Varela, who was physically assaulted in a restaurant last weekend. The party expressed concern that the increasing frequency of insults and physical violence is creating a dangerous political climate.
