PSOE urges Madrid Mayor to negotiate with striking educators

The Socialist Party (PSOE) in Madrid is calling on Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida to immediately enter negotiations with infant school educators. The workers have been engaged in an indefinite strike for five months and have maintained a continuous protest with overnight stays at Puerta del Sol since Monday.

Reyes Maroto, the PSOE Municipal Group spokesperson, accused both the Madrid City Council and the Community of Madrid of ignoring the educators. She stated that the issue is one of dignity for a critical educational stage rather than just financial compensation. Maroto noted that had negotiations occurred sooner, workers could be earning 300 euros more per month. The educators' protest in Puerta del Sol is scheduled to continue until Thursday at 12:00 PM.
