PSS Sleman supporters involved in fatal Madiun toll road accident

A fatal traffic accident involving a passenger vehicle carrying PSS Sleman football supporters occurred on the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road in Madiun on Sunday morning, October 18, 2026. The vehicle, a Toyota Hiace/Elf, was traveling from Yogyakarta toward Surabaya to attend a match between PSS Sleman and Persebaya at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium.

The collision involved a large truck (tronton) near KM 616 in Bajulan Village, Saradan District. Reports on the death toll vary slightly, with one source stating four people died and another reporting three fatalities. Additionally, several passengers were reported to be in critical condition or sustained minor injuries. All victims were evacuated to RSUD Caruban.

Preliminary investigations suggest the accident may have occurred when the passenger vehicle attempted to overtake another vehicle on the left side, leading to a collision with the truck traveling in the same direction. Police are currently conducting a crime scene investigation and awaiting the stabilization of injured passengers to gather further testimony.
