Security tightened for Persija vs Persib match at GBK Stadium

Security measures have been significantly heightened for the upcoming BRI Super League match between Persija Jakarta and Persib Bandung at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium on September 12, 2026. To prevent provocation and ensure safety, PSSI and local authorities have prohibited Persib supporters, known as Bobotoh, from attending the match in person, citing FIFA regulations and crowd permit conditions.

A total of 17,800 personnel from the police, military, and provincial government will be deployed to secure the event. Authorities plan to implement blockades at three key border points—Tangerang, Karawang, and Bogor—to intercept large-scale movements of supporters heading toward Jakarta. PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir emphasized that human safety must take precedence over football rivalries, reminding stakeholders of the Kanjuruhan tragedy.

While Persija is permitted to use the GBK stadium due to its maintained pitch conditions, Persib is unable to use the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, which is currently undergoing preparations for the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. Officials have urged supporters to participate through organized public viewing events rather than attempting to travel to the stadium.
