PSV midfielder Joey Veerman faces KNVB disciplinary hearing and eyes return to Dutch national team

PSV midfielder Joey Veerman was sent off in the Johan Cruijff Schaal match against AZ after a VAR‑reviewed clash in which he struck striker Mexx Meerdink in the face. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) imposed a two‑match suspension with a further conditional match, and PSV rejected the prosecutor’s settlement offer, referring the case to the KNVB disciplinary committee in Zeist. The committee’s decision, due early next week, will determine whether Veerman can play in PSV’s opening Eredivisie fixture against Fortuna Sittard.

Separately, Veerman said he expects to rejoin the Dutch national team now that Ronald Koeman is no longer coach. The 16‑cap midfielder, who missed the recent World Cup squad, expressed confidence that a new coach will call him up, and he also outlined personal season targets of nine goals and 17 assists for PSV.
