PSY concert fireworks cause KBO game suspension in Busan

A professional baseball game at Busan Sajik Baseball Stadium was temporarily suspended on August 15, 2026, due to smoke from a nearby concert. During the KBO League matchup between the NC Dinos and the Lotte Giants, dense smoke from fireworks used during PSY’s ‘Summer Swag’ concert at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium drifted into the ballpark.

The smoke impaired visibility on the field, forcing umpires to halt play at approximately 8:42 p.m. The game was suspended for roughly 19 minutes before play resumed at 9:01 p.m. once the smoke cleared.

The incident has reignited controversy, as a similar occurrence involving fireworks from a Summer Swag event took place in August 2025. While some fans and residents have criticized organizers and local authorities for failing to account for wind and smoke dispersion, others suggest that such disruptions are an unavoidable consequence of hosting large-scale events in the densely packed area.
