Psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov testifies on Maradona's home‑care decision

During the criminal trial over Diego Armando Maradona’s death, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov gave her first testimony. She said the most appropriate treatment, in her professional view, was to continue Maradona’s recovery in a specialized rehabilitation centre, as recommended by Swiss Medical. Cosachov explained that this option could not be pursued because the former footballer “did not want” it. Instead, the medical team arranged a permanent‑care home‑internment, providing doctors, nurses, ambulances and access to studies to keep the patient off substances and on psychiatric medication. She noted later disputes over whether the arrangement was truly “serious home care” or merely “home care”, a point that has become a focal issue in the case. The trial also includes five other medical staff charged with alleged homicide through negligence, and the testimony seeks to clarify the decision‑making process that preceded Maradona’s final days.
