Psychiatrist attacked at Bassano del Grappa hospital

A psychiatrist was severely injured during an attack by a patient at the San Bassiano Hospital in Bassano del Grappa. The incident occurred on a Friday afternoon during a medical examination.

The patient, described as being between 21 and 22 years old, reportedly attacked the doctor with a series of punches and kicks. The medical professional sustained significant injuries, including fractures to the nasal septum, zygomatic bone, and upper arm bone. The doctor has been given a 50-day recovery prognosis and is receiving treatment for shock.

Following the assault, hospital staff managed to restrain and sedate the patient. The Carabinieri arrived at the scene and arrested the individual. The Vicenza Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered preventive detention in prison; however, the patient will remain under guard at the hospital until his current therapeutic course is completed before being transferred to the Vicenza prison.
