Psychiatrist Carlos Rojas Malpica to receive honorary distinction from Peruvian university

Psychiatrist Carlos Rojas Malpica, a professor at the University of Carabobo, will receive the distinction of ‘Extraordinary Honorary Professor’ from Cayetano Heredia University in Peru. This marks the first time the institution has granted this recognition to a Venezuelan. The award will be presented during the International Clinical Update Course in Psychiatry and Mental Health in Lima on September 19.

Rojas Malpica is also scheduled to be the keynote speaker at the 17th Annual Honorio Delgado Conference, presenting on the topic ‘Venezuela on the Couch: The Country’s Mental Health in Our Time’.

In a separate regional development, the University of Health Sciences in Carabobo hosted a discussion regarding Primary Care in Community Mental Health. The session, led by psychiatry residents, focused on the role of families and communities in mental health, with a specific emphasis on suicide prevention and managing common disorders such as depression, psychosis, and substance abuse.
