Psychiatrist explains mental health fatigue types

Psychiatrist Kiyonobu Hirooka explains that September is a period when summer fatigue often manifests as mental health issues. He identifies two primary types of mental instability: the ‘exhaustion type’ and the ‘hypersensitive type,’ as well as a ‘combined type’ where both occur.

The exhaustion type is characterized by a depletion of physical and mental energy, often resulting from high pressure or sleep deprivation. The recommended approach is prioritizing rest, sleep, and adjusting workloads. The hypersensitive type involves heightened reactions to external stimuli, such as social evaluations or environmental changes, requiring individuals to manage their distance from stressors and adjust self-evaluation standards.
