Psychiatrist identifies foods to limit for brain health
Psychiatrist Fernando Mora has identified five types of food that should be limited to protect brain health. He emphasizes that the goal is not to ban these items entirely, but to prevent them from becoming frequent dietary staples, as occasional consumption is less problematic than habitual intake.
The foods recommended for limitation include ultra-processed foods due to high sugar and fat content, sugary beverages, industrial pastries, foods high in unhealthy fats, and various common processed products.
Mora suggests that a balanced approach is essential for preventing neurodegenerative diseases. In addition to dietary choices, maintaining cognitive health involves regular physical activity, managing cardiovascular factors such as hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol, and avoiding tobacco use.
