MySpace plans algorithm‑free comeback to revive platform
Tim and Chris Vanderhook, the current owners of the MySpace brand, have confirmed plans to relaunch the former social‑media giant without the addictive algorithms that dominate modern platforms. The revived service will give users more control, eliminating infinite scrolling and algorithmic feeds, and will reintroduce nostalgic features such as customizable HTML profiles, music pages, a Top‑8 friends list and other music‑focused tools. No official launch date has been set; the announcement was made in a documentary that is currently touring film festivals. Viant Technology, the advertising‑technology firm owned by the brothers, said it cannot provide further details at this stage. The owners say the new MySpace will differentiate itself from Instagram, Facebook and TikTok by offering a chronologically ordered, algorithm‑free experience, though they acknowledge that past ownership changes could make the restart challenging.
