Psychiatrist warns of mental health risks from intense stress

Psychiatrist Dr. Akif Taşdemir has warned that prolonged and intense stress can pose serious threats to mental health, moving beyond mere fatigue to cause significant psychological and physical issues.

Common triggers for such stress include demanding work conditions, economic anxieties, family problems, and major life changes. Dr. Taşdemir emphasizes that the severity of the situation is determined by how long the stress lasts, its intensity, and the extent to which it disrupts daily life.

Psychological symptoms may include constant anxiety, irritability, anger, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, and loss of motivation. Physical manifestations can also occur, such as sleep disorders, headaches, muscle tension, gastrointestinal issues, palpitations, and changes in appetite. A key warning sign is when an individual begins to withdraw from social circles or loses interest in previously enjoyed activities.
