Psychological dimensions of human-AI interaction

Recent psychological analyses explore the complex relationship between human cognition and artificial intelligence. Research suggests that understanding trust in AI requires looking beyond simple dimensions like the reputation of the developer or the functional capabilities of the software. Instead, a multi-dimensional approach is necessary to understand the cognitive underpinnings of how people arrive at levels of trust.

Furthermore, there is emerging interest in how generative AI and large language models (LLMs) might serve as tools for cognitive regulation. This includes the potential for AI to assist in managing the coexistence of mindfulness and mindlessness within the human mind. Beyond the debate regarding AI sentience, scholars are increasingly examining how the human mind itself may change as a result of sustained interaction with these technologies.
