Psychological experts urge early identification of behavioral changes in children

Psychological expert Hoàng Quốc Lân from Phuong Dong General Hospital highlights the importance of identifying early signs of psychological and behavioral abnormalities in children to prevent serious consequences.

Abnormalities are categorized into three main groups: emotions (sadness, anxiety, irritability, or feeling overwhelmed), behavior (defiance, impulsivity, or social norm violations), and cognition (difficulty concentrating or negative thinking).

Expert Lân notes that 'stress response and adjustment disorders - mixed behavioral and emotional disorders' are professional diagnoses that do not necessarily imply violent behavior. These conditions often arise when children face pressures or life events they cannot yet adapt to. Diagnosis requires looking at the connection to stressors, onset, duration, and functional impairment rather than a single isolated symptom. Factors contributing to these changes include family difficulties, academic pressure, bullying, and exposure to negative or violent content on the internet.
