Indonesia Ministry of Tourism promotes six villages for educational tourism

The Indonesian Ministry of Tourism is promoting six selected tourism villages as premier educational tourism (edutrip) destinations to schools. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between school curricula and educational travel opportunities.

Deputy for Marketing Ni Made Ayu Marthini stated that the ministry intends to connect curriculum needs with the educational products offered by these villages. The goal is to transform these locations from mere vacation spots into open learning spaces where students can engage directly with culture, nature, the environment, and local community life.

The six featured villages are: - Desa Wisata Kreatif Terong (Belitung) - Desa Wisata Krebet (Bantul) - Desa Wisata Les (Buleleng) - Desa Wisata Sudaji (Buleleng) - Desa Wisata Bugisan (Klaten) - Desa Wisata Selamanik (Ciamis)

The ministry is providing training and assistance to improve the quality of these villages, focusing on experiential tourism and active learning packages that align with subjects such as science, social studies, ecology, and entrepreneurship.
