Psychological strategies for managing social anxiety and life transitions

Various psychological insights and habit-based strategies are being highlighted to help individuals navigate personal challenges and life transitions.

Based on the book ‘Life Update Encyclopedia’ by Takamasa Ikeda, experts suggest addressing ‘FOPO’ (Fear of Other People’s Opinions) by simply taking action. The research indicates that while anxiety often occurs before or after a task, the fear of judgment typically disappears during the act of doing. To overcome hesitation, individuals are encouraged to focus on immediate, small tasks to shift their mindset from external perception to current action.

Regarding life transitions and aging, advice from Chris Gilbreau’s ‘Time Management to Live Self-First’ emphasizes distinguishing between unavoidable pain and unnecessary suffering. The text suggests that while external hardships cannot be controlled, one can choose not to resist them, thereby reducing mental exhaustion.

Furthermore, to avoid regret in the later stages of life, the focus should shift toward making decisions based on whether one can accept the worst-case scenario. Rather than seeking a path without failure, the goal is to choose a path where the individual is willing to take responsibility for the consequences, thereby gaining a sense of agency and freedom.
