Psychological studies examine the impact of kindness and perceived luck

Psychological research highlights how human perception often underestimates the impact of small actions. A 2023 study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General by researchers Amit Kumar and Nicholas Epley suggests that individuals performing acts of kindness often undervalue the comfort and positive effect those gestures have on recipients.

In a separate area of psychological study, British psychologist Richard Wiseman has explored the mechanics of perceived luck. Following a decade of research, Wiseman identified four key behaviors associated with feeling lucky: staying attentive to unexpected opportunities, trusting intuition, maintaining optimism, and finding positive aspects in negative situations. In his School of Luck experiment, approximately 80% of volunteers reported feeling luckier after applying these principles, though the results are based on participant perception rather than randomized controlled trials.
