Psychologist warns early phone scrolling can disrupt brain's wake‑up cycle

Psychology professor Alfredo Rodríguez‑Muñoz explains that checking a smartphone within the first minute after waking forces the brain out of its natural transition from rest to alertness. This rapid shift can trigger mental fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating and poorer sleep later in the day. He recommends delaying phone use for 15‑20 minutes and starting the morning with low‑stimulus activities such as opening a window, drinking water or quietly sitting by the bed.
