School season preparations involve staffing drives and new local services

As the new school year approaches, various regions are implementing measures to support families and educational institutions. In La Possession, Mayor Erick Fontaine has announced a 5 million euro investment to counter a reduction in state-funded employment contracts. This includes hiring staff via fixed-term contracts, extending extracurricular services until 6:00 PM, and offering school meals for 1 euro.

In Canada, the Centre de services scolaire des Chênes (CSSDC) is working to fill approximately 13 teaching vacancies and seeking additional staff for childcare and support roles before classes begin on August 27.

Other regional updates include the Libournais agglomeration investing 700,000 euros to create a new childcare center in Arveyres, and the commune of Beauval planning to launch full-day Wednesday extracurricular services in September 2026.

Experts also highlight practical preparations for parents, such as checking for insurance redundancies—noting that many families may already be covered by home insurance—and ensuring children's visual health is assessed to prevent learning difficulties.
