PT Bukit Asam targets coal production goals amid mining digitalization

PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk (PTBA) is preparing its operations to maintain production sustainability, aiming for a target of approximately 49.5 million tons by 2026. The company is currently in the process of submitting its 2027 production plan to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). PTBA management emphasized that while they are monitoring export market opportunities, they continue to prioritize domestic supply needs.

Simultaneously, the Indonesian mining industry is undergoing a shift toward digitalization and electrification. Industry experts note a transition from reactive maintenance to proactive, sensor-based monitoring to extend asset life. This technological evolution coincides with the energy transition and government policies regarding biodiesel, such as the planned shift from B40 to B50, which may require hardware modifications for heavy equipment.
