PT CNI and former energy officials named suspects in Rp401 billion nickel corruption case

The Indonesian Attorney General's Office has named PT Ceria Nugraha Indotama (PT CNI) as a corporate suspect in a corruption case involving nickel commodity management between 2017 and 2020. The case has reportedly caused state losses of approximately Rp401.6 billion.

Investigations reveal that PT CNI, which holds mining permits in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, allegedly exported nickel without fulfilling its Domestic Market Obligation (DMO). To facilitate these exports, the company is accused of illegally requesting Sucofindo Kendari to issue falsified nickel grade test documents.

Furthermore, the Attorney General's Office has named four individuals as suspects, including former officials from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). These officials allegedly issued export permit recommendations despite PT CNI lacking the required Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) documentation.
