PT Communication Secretary proposes judicial reform and ethics code

Éden Valadares, the national communication secretary for the Workers' Party (PT), has called for judicial reform in Brazil and the implementation of a code of ethics for Supreme Federal Court (STF) ministers. Valadares argued that it is unreasonable to permit the legal practice of relatives of ministers within superior courts and emphasized the need for greater control over salary caps to prevent public agents from bypassing constitutional limits.

Additionally, Valadares advocated for political reform and the regulation of digital platforms and big tech companies. He stated that these transnational corporations hold significant power to manipulate individual and collective decisions, often transcending national constitutions and public interests. He stressed that Brazilian elections must not be vulnerable to the private interests of these platforms.

Regarding internal party matters, Valadares denied reports that the PT is moving to purge members deemed misaligned with President Lula. He maintained that any errors by party members would be handled through due process and the right to a defense within the party's established instances.
