PT Industri Kereta Api faces debt and losses

PT Industri Kereta Api (Persero), known as INKA, is facing significant financial pressure, including negative equity, unsustainable debt totaling Rp4.7 trillion, and recorded losses of Rp670 billion.

Dony Oskaria, the Chief Operating Officer of Danantara and head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), has called for a comprehensive turnaround strategy. This transformation aims to strengthen the company’s fundamentals by addressing its business model, governance, corporate culture, production quality, operations, and technical processes.

The restructuring is intended to be guided by an integrated grand plan to ensure the company becomes healthier, more competitive, and sustainable. Strengthening INKA is considered strategically important for Indonesia’s national railway industry, industrialization, and job creation.
