PT Jabatex assets to be sealed to pay 459 workers' overdue severance

The Indonesian government plans to seal 14 hectares of assets belonging to PT Jabatex in Cibodas, Tangerang, to facilitate the payment of unpaid severance for 459 workers. The workers have reportedly been waiting for approximately Rp59 billion in severance payments for 12 years following a bankruptcy ruling by the Central Jakarta Commercial Court.

Said Iqbal, Special Advisor to the President for Labor and Worker Welfare, announced that a coordination meeting with the Tangerang District Manpower Office is scheduled for August 31, 2026. Following this meeting, the asset seizure is planned for September 7, 2026. Once the assets are sealed, curators will proceed with the seizure and auction of the land and buildings to settle creditor claims, which total Rp139 billion.

During a recent site visit, officials were unable to enter the factory premises as the gates were locked. Officials noted that the factory assets had been leased to unknown parties without the curator's knowledge, prompting potential criminal investigations for unlawful actions.
