Solo–Jogja commuter rail adds weekend service, keeps Rp8,000 fare

PT KAI Commuter will operate 16 round‑trip KRL services between Solo Balapan and Yogyakarta Tugu on weekdays, with departures beginning at 05:00 WIB. On Saturday, 11 July 2026, the schedule is reduced to 12 trips, reflecting lower weekend demand while still serving commuters, students and tourists. The fare remains Rp8,000 per journey and payment is accepted only via non‑cash methods such as KAI Commuter Multi‑Trip cards or e‑money (Flazz, Brizzi, TapCash, etc.). Tickets can be bought through the GoTransit feature in the Gojek app, which issues a QR code for gate access and allows cancellations with refunds to the GoPay balance. The service connects ten stations—including Palur, Solo Jebres, Solo Balapan, Purwosari, Ceper, Klaten, Brambanan, Maguwo, Lempuyangan and Tugu—providing a traffic‑free alternative for travel between the two cultural cities in Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
