PT Kalisat Energi Nusantara discovers gas in Indonesia

PT Kalisat Energi Nusantara (KEN) has discovered hydrocarbon gas in the Long Hubung Long Bangun working area. Following an extension of drilling permits, exploration activities identified the gas within the Mamahak Structure, specifically in the Late Eocene Kiham Haloq formation sandstone layer.

Based on testing and calculations conducted by LAPI Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), the gas find is estimated at approximately 825 billion cubic feet (BCF). SKK Migas official Djoko Siswanto noted that while the figure indicates promising potential, further technical evaluations are required to determine commercial production viability, economic aspects, and necessary infrastructure for gas distribution.
