PT Kereta Api Indonesia closes illegal crossing in Kediri after train accident

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daerah Operasi 7 Madiun permanently sealed an unregistered level crossing at km 172+5 on the Kras‑Ngadiluwih road in Kediri, East Java. The crossing was blocked with rail and iron‑pad barriers by KAI security and track‑maintenance units, with support from the Surabaya railway technical centre, the Kediri transport office, the local police, the military, and the Jambean village government.

The measure follows a recent accident in which commuter train KA 406 Dhoho collided with a motorcycle at the same site. KAI stressed that safety is its top priority, warned residents not to reopen or create new illegal crossings, and urged all road users to observe proper crossing procedures.
