PT Multi Harapan Utama wins CSR awards for goat farming program

PT Multi Harapan Utama (MHU) has received the CSR & PDB (Sustainable Village Development) Awards 2026 for its ‘Kampung Kambing’ (Goat Village) program. The award was presented in Jakarta through a collaboration between the Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Regional Development (Kemendes PDT) and the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF).

Located in Dusun Tudungan, Kutai Kartanegara, the initiative aims to alleviate poverty for communities living near mining areas by developing community-based livestock farming. Since its inception in late 2018, the program has grown from an initial donation of 12 goats to a significant local enterprise. By the end of 2024, the Lestari Livestock Group reported sales of 326 goats, with individual prices ranging from Rp2.5 million to Rp8 million.

The program also provides economic benefits to the agricultural sector. Livestock manure is utilized as organic fertilizer for local horticulture crops, including chili, tomatoes, and green onions, reducing the need for chemical urea. MHU President Director Kemal Djamil Siregar stated that the livestock activity serves as a vital supplementary income source for members who primarily work as horticultural farmers.
