PT PELNI issues RFI for High-Speed Craft to expand fleet
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to assess the market availability of High-Speed Craft (HSC) to support the expansion of its maritime transport services. The company is exploring various acquisition methods, including time charter schemes.
The RFI seeks technical specifications, operational readiness, rental rate indications, and availability from ship owners. PELNI is specifically looking for two types of vessels:
Type A: Catamaran-style passenger ships with operational speeds of 20–30 knots, a draft of 1–2 meters, and a capacity of approximately 300–500 passengers.
Type B: Monohull-style passenger ships with operational speeds of 20–30 knots, a draft of 1–1.5 meters, and a capacity of approximately 200–400 passengers.
Company Secretary Ditto Pappilanda stated that this exploratory phase is intended to provide a basis for future studies regarding service development. The RFI does not obligate PELNI to proceed with procurement or appoint specific providers at this stage.
