PT PELNI seeks information on High-Speed Craft for fleet expansion
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (PELNI) has officially issued a Request for Information (RFI) to assess the market availability of High-Speed Craft (HSC). This exploratory step is intended to support the expansion of national maritime transport services through potential ship lease schemes, such as time charters.
According to Corporate Secretary Ditto Pappilanda, the RFI serves as an initial study to map business potential and vessel affordability. The company is specifically looking for two types of passenger vessels:
Type A: Catamaran construction with speeds of 20–30 knots, a draft of 1–2 meters, and a capacity of 300–500 passengers.
Type B: Monohull construction with speeds of 20–30 knots, a draft of 1–1.5 meters, and a capacity of 200–400 passengers.
All proposed vessels must meet safety and operational reliability standards suitable for Indonesian waters and port characteristics. The RFI process is non-binding and does not constitute a formal procurement stage.
