Indonesia advances renewable energy and oil production initiatives
Indonesia is seeing significant developments across its energy and sustainability sectors. In South Sumatra, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) reported that the BNG-084 development well in the Adera Field produced 475.2 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), exceeding its initial target of 182 BOPD by 161%.
In the renewable sector, PT Daya Bumi Energi Indonesia and China's GEM Co., Ltd. have signed memorandums of understanding to develop a 90 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar power plant and a 40 megawatt-hour (MWh) battery energy storage system in Central Sulawesi. This collaboration aims to support industrial areas and Indonesia's national renewable energy goals.
Additionally, PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) Kamojang is utilizing directional drilling and closed-loop systems to minimize its environmental footprint, using only 0.2% of its 45,000-hectare concession area. Meanwhile, Telkom Indonesia has launched a ‘Zero Waste to Landfill’ initiative at The Telkom Hub to manage approximately 9.7 tons of waste per month through 3R (reduce, reuse, recycle) practices.
