PT Repower Asia Indonesia Tbk expands into data center business

PT Repower Asia Indonesia Tbk (REAL) is expanding its business into the digital infrastructure sector by targeting opportunities in digital property and data centers. To facilitate this, the company established a new subsidiary, PT Repower Global Sinergitama (RGST), on August 19, 2026. REAL holds a 99.6% majority stake in RGST, with the remaining 0.4% held by PT Harmoni Harum Propertindo.

The move is a strategic response to the rapid global and domestic growth of artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digitalization, which have increased the demand for computing capacity, connectivity, and specialized property. Management views the data center segment as a potential new growth engine capable of generating recurring income through models such as leasing or colocation.

This expansion aligns with broader national trends in Indonesia. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has identified AI as a new engine for economic growth, noting that Indonesia has investment plans for data center capacities reaching 1.3 gigawatts (GW).
