PT Semanggi Mas Sejahtera director faces tax evasion trial

Soetrisno, the director of PT Semanggi Mas Sejahtera, is facing trial at the Surabaya District Court for alleged tax evasion. Prosecutors claim the director submitted inaccurate annual tax returns between 2017 and 2018.

During this period, the cigarette manufacturer reportedly redeemed excise stamps 184 times. The accumulated Value Added Tax (VAT) on tobacco products listed in the redemption documents totaled approximately Rp2.791 billion. The court proceedings have moved to the examination of experts and the defendant.
