PT Tambang Rejeki Kolaka hauling dispute threatens Indonesia's nickel revenue

A conflict over the hauling road used to transport nickel ore in the Pomalaa area of Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, has raised concerns about a halt to production and a loss of state non‑tax revenue. The route, essential for moving ore from PT Tambang Rejeki Kolaka (TRK), is alleged to be used without proper legal basis and may intersect the mining permit area of state‑owned PT Antam Tbk.

Local mining watchdogs and a coalition of observers have demanded that Antam disclose the permit map and clarify any agreements with TRK. They warn that the disruption could delay ore sales, reduce royalty and PNBP receipts, and affect the regional economy. Antam’s spokesperson offered only a brief comment, directing inquiries to internal documents. Government agencies, including the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, are expected to investigate the legality of the hauling and stockpile usage.
