PTCL Ba-Ikhtiar initiative empowers 2,100 Pakistani women through digital skills

PTCL’s Ba-Ikhtiar initiative has expanded to support 2,100 women across 22 flood-affected districts in Pakistan, helping them transition traditional crafts into digital-era businesses. Launched through the Dil Se Social Impact Platform in partnership with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF), the program initially began in Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a cohort of 100 women.

The program provides digital literacy, entrepreneurship training, financial awareness, and access to online platforms to complement existing vocational skills. Participants engage in various sectors, including stitching, embroidery, pottery, handicrafts, food preservation, and organic cosmetics production.

By leveraging technology, the initiative has enabled women to move their work from local markets to broader commercial and international stages. Some participants have showcased their products at major events such as GITEX Global in Dubai and Lok Mela, demonstrating increased economic independence through direct customer engagement and expanded market access.
