Péter Magyar addresses KNBSZ appointment and surveillance allegations

During a press conference on September 18, Péter Magyar addressed inquiries regarding the appointment of the Director General of the Military National Security Service (KNBSZ). When questioned by journalists about the nominee’s past as a party activist and allegations concerning the surveillance of media sources, Magyar denied that such surveillance had occurred.

Magyar characterized the criticisms as attempts by members of the ‘old guard’ to protect their positions or prevent the investigation of potential crimes related to national security. He stated that the nominee’s past involvement was voluntary rather than a formal party function and noted that the appointment had been approved by the relevant parliamentary committee.
