Péter Magyar calls for strong military capabilities at oath ceremony

During a military oath ceremony on August 20, Péter Magyar emphasized the necessity of maintaining strong national defense capabilities to ensure peace. He stated that Hungary must possess a well-equipped, properly trained, technologically modern, and well-led military that both Hungarian citizens and allies can rely upon.

Magyar noted that while Hungary has responsibilities stemming from its EU and NATO memberships, the nation must also maintain its own military strength. He specifically remarked, “To peace, one also needs their own strength,” a phrase that mirrors previous rhetoric used by political figures such as Viktor Orbán and Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky regarding the importance of military power in maintaining peace.
