Péter Magyar compares Fidesz to Cosa Nostra mafia

Péter Magyar has compared the Fidesz party to the Italian Cosa Nostra mafia in a recent social media post. He stated that both entities began with small-scale criminal activities and eventually sought to misappropriate significant assets, including highways, airports, and European Union funds.

Magyar expressed a commitment to defeating what he termed the ‘political and economic mafia’ in Hungary. He drew parallels to the successful struggle against the Sicilian mafia, asserting that such a victory is possible but requires broad societal cooperation.

He called upon the Hungarian public to stand behind law enforcement, investigators, and prosecutors to ensure these institutions feel the support of the nation. He emphasized that he does not fear mafia-style actors and urged citizens to protect the authorities to overcome the current political situation.
